REFiNED only had us wait about a day since the DVDRip of this very well rated movie, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead. You should definitely get this as the previous 1CD rip wasn’t any good in my opinion, and this along with the 720p release of Rendition really made my day.

Quality: DTS audio with a typical bitrate, great video and bitrate from REFiNED make this a must get.

Master filmmaker Sidney Lumet directs this absorbing suspense thriller about a family facing the worst enemy of all - itself. Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Andy, an overextended broker who lures his younger brother, Hank (Ethan Hawke) into a larcenous scheme: the pair will rob a suburban mom-and-pop jewelry store that appears to be the quintessential easy target. The problem is, the store owners are Andy and Hank’s actual mom and pop and, when the seemingly perfect crime goes awry, the damage lands right at their doorstep. Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei plays Hoffman’s trophy wife, who is having a clandestine affair with Hawke, and the stellar cast also includes Albert Finney as the family patriarch who pursues justice at all costs, completely unaware that the culprits he is hunting are his own sons.

Just got back from my new job to see a nice release from SiNNERS of a pretty good thriller, Rendition. This was out on DVDRip for about 3 and a half months now so most of you probably grabbed that, but the HD is finally here.

Quality: Great DTS audio and a nice video bitrate are what you’d expect from an experienced group such as this one.

After a terrorist bombing kills an American envoy in a foreign country. An investigation leads to an Egyptian who has been living in the United States for years and who is married to an American. He is apprehended when he’s on his way home. The U.S. sends him to the country where the incident occurs for interrogation which includes torture. An American CIA operative observes the interrogation and is at odds whether to keep it going or to stop it. In the meantime, the man’s wife raises hell to find him despite being pregnant but the person behind this refuses to help or give her any information.

NOsegmenT, brought out a DVDRip of Top Gear, The Great Adventures US Special. The reason for the repack, from the group explanation is they simply made a mistake in the release, rar and avi naming. Instead of Polar they replaced the word with US. So this is the DVD version of the episode aired back in season nine, episode 6.

Quality:DVDRip R2 DVD5 source, with average 1173 video bitrate, it’s 9 minutes longer than the broadcasted version. Also suited with AC3 audio puts the feather in the cap.

Now that the weekend has arrived it has allowed me more time to creat some posts on the site. First comes another cool FutureWeapons episode is rlz, with thanks to OMiCRON. The main feature of the episode is the X-47b demonstrator, a futuristic, unmanned stealth bomber that it claims is the best new tailless aircraft that can land on a aircraft carrier.

There was actually some decent progress made in the arena of batg this week. The following are spoilers so highlight the white text to read them. A new challenge is set for the contestants, and it’s a flag football match between the beauties and geeks. But the catch is each team must send one of their members over to the beauties/geeks’ side. Furthermore, the swapped beauty/geek sent to the other team automatically becomes eliminated if his/her team loses. The Beauties won the game, and Jillian was sent away. Also Matt sustained a serious injury. Towards the end of the show, the host told everyone that the winning team would be choosing who partners with each. The game is changing, instead of Beauties vs Geeks, they will now be paired together. But the only thing is the episode ends just about when the last person was going to be chosen for the team. I feel strongly that Joe wont be picked, and he will be sent home.

This week sees the two teams get sportingly competitive with a game of flag football, and back in the warm and cosy mansion things heat up even more.

Most shocking is one of the trashiest reality-video TV shows and it is also fun to watch. Unfortunately, this TV group made a common mistake; this time they incorrectly labled the episode number. The correct label is S03E20, and if MOMEMTUM cares about their reputation they should upload a dirfix. Plenty of fights, crime incidents and other action inside. BeStDivX dishes out “The Golden Compass“, winner of the “Best Achievement in Visual Effects” Oscar this year (and nominee for “Best Achievement in Art Direction”). Needless to say, the visual effects here are stunning, and if you’re a fan of yummy CG, you will really appreciate the work put into this film. You can also watch it with your kids, as its a family movie rated PG-13. As for quality, it’s pretty average, unfortunately. Video bitrate is a decent 716k and audio is normal MP3. BeStDivX did not specify a runtime, but according to IMDB it’s 113 minutes. A film this long, filled with CG could have deserved a 2 CD release.

Synopsis: THE GOLDEN COMPASS is an adaptation of the first book in the beloved but controversial fantasy series by Phillip Pullman. The story opens with Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) an orphan girl who lives in an alternate world that is similar to earth, but where people’s souls exist outside of their bodies in animal form. The people are ruled by a shadowy and oppressive council known as the Magisterium, which is doing it’s best to keep everyone from getting information about what is called “Dust.” Lyra’s Uncle Asriel (Daniel Craig) has been researching Dust, and he has seen to it that Lyra is given safe shelter at Jordan College.

“Steep” is one Documentary that may be worth watching in 720p glory. It promises some breath-taking views of snowy mountains that could look beautiful on your LCD screen. Alternatively, you could go for the DVDRip that’s been out since earlier this month. Quality of video and audio is expectedly gorgeous.

Synopsis: Narrated by SIX FEET UNDER’s Peter Krause, STEEP is an exciting examination of the dangerous sport of extreme skiing. The film was written and directed by Mark Obenhaus, a journalism veteran who has spent more than 30 years working on incisive television documentaries (including at ABC News with Peter Jennings, to whom the film is dedicated), STEEP follows the exploits of a dozen current and former adventure skiers who have risked their lives to ski down remote mountains where no one has skied before. They take helicopters and climb mountains to reach the points at which they head downhill, with no signs or nicely carved paths to lead them on their way.

Chaps from RELOADED released a fairly unknown real time strategy Fate of Hellas tonight and here’s a short info about this game. This title reminds me of Age of Mythology, which deals with the same time span - Ancient Greece. The release size is a nice surprise in these days, it has only 1.5 GB.

Mac OS X’s reputation for security was tarnished Thursday when a team of researchers from Independent Security Evaluators (ISE) managed to hack a MacBook Air in two minutes using a zero-day vulnerability in Apple’s Safari 3.1 Web browser. The ISE security researchers — Charlie Miller, Jake Honoroff, and Mark Daniel — were participating in the “PWN to OWN” competition at the CanSecWest security conference, which began Wednesday in Vancouver, British Columbia. “Pwn” is computer gaming slang for “own,” as in conquer. The “p” typo serves to heighten the humiliation of defeat by emphasizing that the loss came at the hands of a youth who can’t even spell or type correctly. The term has also come to be used in security circles.

Contest participants had their choice of trying to hack an Apple MacBook Air running OS X 10.5.2, a Sony Vaio VGN-TZ37CN running Ubuntu 7.10, or a Fujitsu U810 running Vista Ultimate SP1. During the first day, when attacks were limited to network attacks on the operating system, no one managed to compromise any of the systems. That changed Thursday when attacks on default client-side applications — Web browser, e-mail, IM — were allowed. The ISE team won $10,000 from security firm TippingPoint Technologies for compromising the MacBook Air. The undisclosed vulnerability in Safari 3.1 has been shown to Apple and no further information about it will be revealed until Apple can issue an update, TippingPoint said.
