What do you know? A music release that ISN’T a compilation. Seems like it’s the exception rather than the rule lately. 
I was very surprised when I came across this release, in a very good way. I really like Nada Surf, and this is an acoustic EP that they recorded for myspace, that was sold on iTunes and in stores in a small order.
It’s a shame that Nada Surf was pretty much written off as a one-hit wonder, at least in the US, after the mid 90s staple “Popular”, they’ve stayed strong for the last decade or so, pumping out polished power pop influenced alternative. If you haven’t heard of Nada Surf from their hit, I’m sure you’ve probably heard their music in TV and Film, including Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, The OC, Six Feet Under, One Tree Hill, Disturbia, A Love Song for Bobby Long, and John Tucker Must Die.
Listening through this a couple of times, I can say that I genuinely love this and might even prefer it to their proper studio LP Lucky that was released earlier this year.
Nada Surf is an American rock music group. Formed in 1992, the New York band consists of Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Ira Elliot (drums, backup vocals) and Daniel Lorca (bass, backup vocals). The band is perhaps best-known for the song “Popular” from their 1996 album High/Low.
