Elizabeth Weir returns to Atlantis in the form of a “digitally ascended” being, who hopes to use Atlantis to construct human bodies for her consciousness, and the consciousness of eight other Replicators who likewise hope to Ascend. However, one of the Replicators refuses to transfer his mind to a short-lived and vulnerable body and, when Elizabeth realizes that she and the other Replicators pose a threat to the safety of Atlantis, she leads them through the Stargate to a gate located in outer space, rendering them immobile.
